Male Portrait
Mansueti Giovanni, attributed
(Venice 1485 - 1527)
Attributed in the 1833 inventory of the fidei-commissum to Paolo Veronese, the panel was later associated with the fifteenth-century Venetian school. It was subsequently attributed to Mansueti, though some critics believe it to be the work of a finer artist. The attribution to Giovanni Mansueti, a follower of Giovanni Bellini, is nonetheless provisionally acceptable.
