Saint Catherine of Alexandria
Barocci Federico, in the manner
Urbino c. 1535 - 1612)
Mentioned as part of the Collection from the middle of the 17th century and attributed to Federico Barocci, the work was subsequently assigned to other artists, even though it is very similar to the production of the painter from Urbino. The painting portrays Catherine, a princess from Alexandria, as attested by her regal crown. The saint exhibits the spiked wheel and the palm, symbols of her martyrdom, and on her left hand is wearing the wedding ring given to her by the Christ Child.
