Salvator Mundi
Della Porta Bartolomeo called Fra Bartolomeo
(Prato 1472 - Florence 1517)
The panel was in all likelihood part of a group of works acquired by Cardinal Scipione from Giovan Paolo della Porta in 1609. This painting was also attributed to Albertinelli; the iconography style is connected to a type widely spread at the beginning of the 16th century. While, on the other hand, the extreme delicacy in the shapes and range of light and bright colours recall a style more associated with the fifteenth century.
