Venus
Peruzzi Baldassarre
(Siena 1481 - Rome 1536)
Attributed to Peruzzi, albeit with several dissenting opinions, the painting portrays a Venus Anadyomene with a shapely, smooth body highlighted against a dark background. Her tender, subtly melancholy face, however, recalls the graceful elegance of Sienese art, typical of the artist’s work as a painter.
