TREASURES TO BE REVEALED: THE DEPOSITS OF THE BORGHESE GALLERY REOPEN

Galleria Borghese is pleased to reopen its deposits to the public.

260 paintings, sorted by painting schools and thematic areas. A “second picture gallery” that has no place in the museum’s exhibition floors due to the structural and decorative renovation wanted by Marcantonio IV Borghese in the late eighteenth century, which modified the layout desired by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, founder of the villa and of the collection in the early seventeenth century.

From February 23rd to May 5th it will be possible to access the deposits again. These, from being closed and inaccessible, unknown to most of the public, become open and welcoming places that are able to reveal works of great artistic value and restore the history of the collection, the building and the taste of the eras.

Deposits are open from Tuesday to Friday, for a limited number of people. Reservations are required by calling 06 67233753 (from Monday to Friday, 10-17). The initiative is free. Entrance to the deposits does not entitle you to visit the museum.

Meeting point at 16.00 at the information desk of the museum, located next to the ticket office. The stay at the depots is 45 minutes.
