EXISTS AS A WOMAN: EXPOSURES METAMORPHOSIS

The second event in the program To Exist as a Woman, which expands on the themes of the exhibition Poems of the Black Earth by artist Wangechi Mutu (on view through September 14, 2025), will take place on Wednesday, June 18 at 6:00 PM under the portico of the Galleria Borghese.

Materials Exhibitions Metamorphosis is the title of the conversation between Annalisa Metta and Riccardo Venturi.

This meeting is dedicated to an in-depth exploration of the work of the Kenyan-American artist, through a reflection on the profound relationship between art, nature, and the idea of refuge as a space for transformation and resistance.

Promoted by the Galleria Borghese, To Exist as a Woman is a six-part series developed in collaboration with Electa and Fondamenta – Foundation for Arts and Culture.

Annalisa Metta is Professor of Landscape Architecture at Roma Tre University, where she teaches theory, criticism, and landscape design. Among her publications is the forthcoming book The Landscape is a Monster: Wild Cities and Hybrid Natures (2025).

Riccardo Venturi teaches Theory and History of Contemporary Art at Panthéon-Sorbonne University in Paris. His research focuses on the relationship between visual arts and environmental humanities. He is a regular contributor to Alias – Il Manifesto, Lucy dei mondi, and Antinomie—a platform for writing and images, which he co-founded.

Reservations are required and open until capacity is reached at the following link.

Please note: attendance at the event does not include access to the exhibition, which must be booked separately at this link
