GLANCES BEYOND TIME. EXTRAORDINARY OPENINGS OF THE MUSEUM WITH IMMERSIVE VISIT

Galleria Borghese presents Glances Beyond Time, a new and innovative visiting experience that, starting from December 16th, unites art, history, and technology through the use of augmented reality. A unique itinerary, designed to accompany the public on a fascinating journey through the centuries, discovering the evolution of the Museum and its extraordinary collections.

The tour then leads to the grand Entrance Hall, where the eye is immediately drawn to the extraordinary ceiling frescoes by Mariano Rossi, once again revealing their full theatrical power. Yet this is more than an encounter with art: it is a true journey back in time. The hall comes alive as it appeared in the seventeenth century, when the walls were entirely clad in precious corami—finely decorated leather wall coverings—and at its center stood the large table for the game of Trucco, an elegant ancestor of billiards and a focal point of social life.
Visitors finally step into the evocative Loggia frescoed by Giovanni Lanfranco, located on the museum’s first floor. Once open to the outdoors, the Loggia breathes again through an immersive reconstruction that allows guests to look out over a captivating panorama of the seventeenth-century Roman countryside. Here, architecture, painting, and landscape rediscover their original dialogue, offering an experience that engages all the senses.
These are just some of the masterpieces and remarkable curiosities awaiting visitors: an engaging itinerary that reveals previously unseen details, unexpected perspectives, and brings history vividly back to life.

The itinerary lasts one and a half hours and alternates the traditional visit to the great masterpieces of the collection with an intense immersive experience in virtual and augmented reality, capable of combining the fascination of the past with the potential of technology.
