Where is the Galleria Borghese located?

The Galleria Borghese Museum is located inside the public park of Villa Borghese. The park entrance closest to the Galleria Borghese is on Via Pinciana. The nearest bus stop, also on Via Pinciana, is called Pinciana/Museo Borghese.

What is the difference between Villa Borghese and the Galleria Borghese?

Villa Borghese is the park where the noble mansion, now called Galleria Borghese, is located. The park and the mansion were established in the early 1600s as a suburban villa of the Borghese family. The park has free access, while visiting the Galleria requires purchasing a ticket, which must be booked in advance.

What can be visited inside the Galleria Borghese?

The Galleria Borghese Museum houses and exhibits a collection of ancient sculptures, bas-reliefs, and mosaics, as well as paintings and sculptures from the 15th to the 19th centuries. Among the masterpieces, whose first and most important core collection dates back to Cardinal Scipione (1579–1633), the nephew of Pope Paul V, are works by Caravaggio, Raphael, Titian, Correggio, Antonello da Messina, Giovanni Bellini, and sculptures by Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Antonio Canova.
The artworks are displayed in 20 frescoed rooms, along with the portico and entrance hall, which are open to the public.

How much does the ticket cost and how can it be purchased?

  • FULL PRICE: €13.00 (€8.00 for the last time slot)
  • REDUCED (ages 18–25): €2.00
  • FREE: For minors under 18 and other eligible categories

Booking is mandatory for all ticket categories, including free tickets, and costs €2. The Museum is not responsible for tickets sold at a higher price by third parties.

Do journalists have free access?

Italian and foreign journalists, including non-EU, can enter for free after filling out a specific form available here:

Accreditation is granted upon verification of a valid membership card for Italian journalists or a card proving journalistic activity for foreign journalists.

Accreditation is personal and unique. If a journalist wishes to enter with other people, they should purchase tickets and then request accreditation for the same date and time.

Is entry free on the first Sunday of the month?

Yes, admission is free on the first Sunday of each month, except for the mandatory booking fee. Tickets are available through official sales channels starting 10 days before the date.

How long does the visit to the Galleria last?

The visit lasts two hours, except for the 5:45 PM slot, which lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes.

I can no longer visit. Can I modify or get a refund for my ticket?

Purchased tickets cannot be modified or refunded.

Can I access the bookshop or café without a ticket?

Yes, you can access the bookshop and café without a ticket, but you cannot use the cloakroom or restrooms.

I checked the website and called +39 06 32810, but no tickets are available. Can I go to the ticket office and wait in line?

Yes, but same-day entry is not guaranteed.

Last-minute tickets are available at the ticket office, but supply is limited. They can only be purchased starting at minute 20 of every hour, and the visit lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes. The last slot is at 5:50 PM, with a 1-hour visit. A maximum of 2 tickets per person can be purchased. The waiting time may be long, and availability is not guaranteed. Dedicated staff will provide visitors with all necessary information.

You can always buy tickets for the next available date at the ticket office.

ATTENTION: The museum is not responsible for tickets sold at a higher price by third parties. Always buy from official channels!

Is there a fast-track ticket?

No. For security reasons, entry is controlled and only allowed at the beginning of each hour. This may cause a queue, but it moves quickly.

Which entrance of Villa Borghese is closest to the Galleria Borghese?

The closest entrance is on Via Pinciana, where the nearest bus stop, Pinciana/Museo Borghese, is also located.

Where can I park?

Paid street parking (blue lines) is available on Via Pinciana and nearby streets. Only authorized vehicles can enter and park inside Villa Borghese. Requests for access and parking should be sent to: accessiparchieville@comune.roma.it

Can I leave my luggage in the cloakroom?

Luggage can be left in the cloakroom only during the visit and as an exception.

Are backpacks allowed in the exhibition rooms?

For security reasons, medium and large bags, shopping bags, backpacks, and luggage are not allowed inside the museum. Only small pouches and handbags (maximum size: 21 x 15 cm) are permitted.
Non-allowed bags must be left in the cloakroom at the museum entrance.

Is there a café inside the Galleria?

Yes, the café is open from 8:30 AM to 7:10 PM.

Can private events or exclusive visits be organized at the Galleria?
