Between myth and classical antiquity
December 11th 2023
What would Galleria Borghese be without its collection of classical antiquities? Placed along the walls of the rooms, the ancient sculptures constitute the precious and cultured antiquarian context with which the modern sculptural groups seem to dialogue. Placed in comparison or in contrast, as Cardinal Scipione would have liked, and depicting gods or heroes. The itinerary will present some of the most interesting Greek or Roman works in the collection: from the fighting Satyr to the Dancing Satyr, from the sarcophagus of Hercules to the relief with Ajax and Cassandra, from the Hermaphrodite to the Peplofora.
