CONCERT IN HONOR OF POPE PAOLO V
A commemorative event was held at Galleria Borghese in memory of Pope Paul V Borghese, whose 400th anniversary of death is this year: a concert promoted by the Museum with the support of the Borghese descendants to pay homage to this key figure in the history of the arts in Rome.
The concert program was chosen with the intention of celebrating the beauty and splendor of the Galleria Borghese whose building and collection were commissioned by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Paul V, who embarked on an intense mission of architectural and artistic patronage, thanks in part to the ascension to the papal throne of his “great uncle”.
The concert program included Tartini’s Trillo del diavolo, the Adagio from Sonata n° 1 for the violin by J. S. Bach, and l’Autunno and l’Inverno by Vivaldi.
The repertoire was played by Giovanni Andrea Zanon, solo violin, with Beatrice Zanon on violin I, Riccardo Porrovecchio violin II, Claudio Laureti the viola and Vladimir Bogdanovic the cello.
Also as part of the Pauline celebrations, the Galleria Borghese has designed and curated a special itinerary in the exhibition rooms consisting of new scientific entries on the works related to the life and work of the pontiff that can be read using QRCodes from smartphones and accompanied by original audio content.
