Cycle of painted vaults
The vaults of the ground floor

The Galleria Borghese holds, among others, treasures that are so evident but little known: the astonishing frescoes on the vaults, which constitute a true anthology of painting in Rome in the late eighteenth century. Created during the long renovation works commissioned by Marcantonio IV Borghese, combine the antiquarian dream, characteristic of the time, with the desire for grandeur, the latest results of Baroque illusionism with the new neoclassical measure.
The story of the Borghese vaults will be divided into two paths.
