MUSEUMS’ NIGHT AT GALLERIA BORGHESE

On Saturday, 18th May, 2024, Galleria Borghese participates the Museums’ Night, as part of the International Museums’ Day promoted by ICOM (International Council of Museums), with extraordinary opening hours from 7pm to 10pm at the symbolic cost of 1 euro, excluding mandatory reservation fees and the exemptions provided by law. Furthermore, during the day, the museum’s Accessibility Office offers a special appointment for the Stories of Cardinal Scipione and Casa Borghese, the project that sheds light on the extraordinary collecting history of the family, told only in Italian Sign Language and in Italian (not in English): a unique opportunity for hearing people to approach the deaf community, sharing a significant cultural experience in the protected space of the museum.

The appointment is at 10am (duration of the visit approximately 2 hours) at Palazzo Barberini, where the meeting will be exceptionally held as part of the exhibition Raffaello, Tiziano, Rubens. Masterpieces from Galleria Borghese at Palazzo Barberini, which until 30th June hosts 50 masterpieces from Galleria Borghese due to important renovation and conservation works underway in the Pinacoteca, thanks to the funds of the PNRR.

This will be the occasion to deepen the ties between Cardinal Scipione and Cardinal Maffeo, future Pope Urban VIII, their friendship, and their common passions, through the selection of some works from both museums.

Participation is free with mandatory reservation at ga-bor.accessibilita@cultura.gov.it for a maximum of about 20 people, 10 deaf and 10 hearing.
