THE AMOROUS AFFECTIONS. DANGEROUS LIAISONS

Gli Amorosi Affetti, the concert series that has been bringing the halls of the Galleria Borghese to life for three years, establishing a historical and emotional connection with the artworks present, presents a monographic concert dedicated to some of the most captivating works of Claudio Monteverdi.
The concert, DANGEROUS LIAISONS, is Saturday March 8th in Room IV at 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
In various formations, from solo voice to five-part polyphony, the Cappella Musicale di Villa Medici will perform a concert featuring 17th-century texts set to music by Monteverdi. These works celebrate the arrival of spring, depict nature, explore the contrasts of new love, and reflect the early Baroque representation of ancient Roman history.
The madrigals to be performed are taken from the Fourth Book, published in Venice by Ricciardo Amadino in 1603, considered one of the most fascinating. In these works, Monteverdi continues his expressive innovations and experiments with new creative techniques never before attempted, including the definitive use of basso continuo.
