THE BORGHESE GALLERY TELLS ITS STORY. AN IMMERSIVE JOURNEY THROUGH THE MUSEUM’S HISTORY AND BEAUTY

The Borghese Gallery is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of an extraordinary new project: The Borghese Gallery Tells Its Story. This unprecedented immersive experience will illuminate the rear façade of the museum, bringing to life centuries of history, art, and transformation that have made this site one of the most beloved cultural destinations in the world.

The shows will be projected from July to October 2025, every Friday and Saturday evening from 9:00 PM, with multiple showings each night. A dedicated ticket and special setup will allow spectators to enjoy the experience from seating arranged in the gardens of Villa Borghese.

Through a spectacular artistic projection, the Borghese Gallery will be transformed into a vibrant and dynamic screen, presenting in chronological order the key stages of its creation and development—from Cardinal Scipione Borghese’s acquisition of land outside the city walls in the 17th century, to the construction of the villa as an ideal space for an unparalleled collection, and the many historical events, architectural projects, garden transformations, and display changes that have taken place over the centuries.

This powerful and evocative visual narrative intertwines history, art, and technology to celebrate the identity and evolution of the Gallery, revealing it to the public in a new light. Accompanied by an original soundtrack and immersive narration, the projections will guide the audience along a journey that is both intimate and monumental—filled with visions, restorations, masterpieces, and the transformation of place from past to present.

The Borghese Gallery Tells Its Story is not only a tribute to the memory of an extraordinary site, but also a bridge between past and present—between the richness of cultural heritage and the innovation of contemporary visual language.

This initiative is part of the broader program to enhance and improve accessibility to the Borghese Gallery, supported by PNRR funds under: Mission 1 “Digitalization, Innovation, Competitiveness, Culture and Tourism” – Component 3 “Tourism and Culture 4.0” – Investment 1.2 “Removal of physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries, and archives to ensure broader access and participation in culture.”

Advance booking is required, subject to availability, and will open around mid-June on this website.
