THE FIFTH CENTENARY OF THE DEATH OF RAPHAEL ON THE MUSEUM’S NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL
Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino was born on 6 April 1483, as can be inferred from the epitaph on his tomb in the Pantheon – or, according to Vasari, on 28 March.
The great artist died in Rome on 6 April 1520 following a “continuous and acute” fever.
Today we are celebrating the fifth centenary of his death with an in-depth study of the Baglioni Altarpiece, the large panel of the Deposition signed by the painter and dated 1507, on our new YouTube channel.
