IN SEARCH OF ETERNITY – PAINTING ON AND WITH STONE IN ROME
On the occasion of the exhibition Timeless Wonder. Painting on stone in Rome in the Cinquecento and Seicento, the Galleria Borghese would like to guide visitors through the discovery of further masterpieces on stone kept in churches and palaces in Rome with the aim of deepening their knowledge of this extraordinary technique.
In search of eternity. Painting on and with Stone in Rome. Itineraries, published by Officina Libraria, is the volume produced by Galleria Borghese that accompanies the visitor on a journey of 19 locations that treasure works on stone in Rome, to take the exhibition outside the museum and make it last beyond its closure on 29 January.
Throughout the exhibition period, in order to highlight the close connection between stone painting and the many Roman commissions, it will be possible to visit two places that are normally closed to the public:
– the Church of Santa Caterina dei Funari. Open on 13 and 27 January from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
– the Rooms of San Filippo Neri inside the Church of Santa Maria della Vallicella, where the Resurrection of Christ by Antonio Tempesta is kept. Open on 22 December, 5 and 26 January from 10 a.m. to 12 noon
